I saw a Mermaid yesterday

Swimming and playing among the waves

She was beautiful and graceful

And she caught my eye

I tried but couldn't hide my surprise

Now for a moment I was confused

You see this boy is rarely amused

But there she was plain as day

For a second, I had naught to say

So, I Inquired are you real?

Is it my heart you've come to steal?

Where are you from, what's the story

Is it true the tales of blissful glory?

​

Will you drown me with just a kiss?

Or would you fulfill my every wish

Will you take me to hear whale song?

Could I even hold my breath that long?

​

Will you show your world to me?

Take me places no mortal has seen

Can we dance among the tide

Beautiful currents we could ride

 

And when the moon is beaming bright

When the stars come out at night

Will you sing your siren song to me

If so, would you let this diver free

​

She just turned

and smirked at me

Laughed once or twice

Exclaimed you're born to be free

​

But if you dare to take the chance

Come take my hand and we will dance

And off we went to swim the seas

Just this Beautiful Mermaid

and me
