Life's Lessons
Once I was a young man
I thought I knew it all
Hardly did I realize
I was headed for a fall
Life the consummate teacher
I had a lot to learn
I did my best to pass the test
But often crashed and burned
So, the lessons kept on coming
And I the eager one
Never to be daunted
Surely I am my father's son
Trials and tribulation
The tutors of my past
Never ceased to amaze me
How they could last and last
The student in me cried
The lessons were not wasted
I tried and tried and tried
But life was barely even tasted
You see, life teaches us survival
For it is the nature of its being
You sweat, you bleed, you cry
But those emotions are fleeting
The fact that you are alive
The purpose of instruction
To live, to love, to learn
The ultimate seduction
Seduced by life's experiences
It's the lessons of your youth
The goal remains as it always has
For you to relish in it's truth
